    1. I find Tangle of Thornes a refreshing fantasy read. It's a story about a girl named Eva Thorne who had a brother named Viktor who was brutally killed by an unknown person. Determined to find out who the culprit behind her brother's death, she went to a particular world to seek for help-- a world enriched with dwarfs, elves, dark gods, and every otherworldly creatures. Because Eva is a Solhan, a human who is below the level of everyone in this world, she wasn't able to easily get the needed help. [...]

    2. Tangle Of Thorns by Lorel Clayton. Eva Thorne is trying to find out who killed her brother Viktor. She won't stop til she does.Fantastic read with brilliant characters. Loved Eva. I love reading about magic. 5*. Tbc on fb.

    3. I was sent a copy of this fantastic book (hard copy), my favorite! This book was seriously a treat to read! It is one that I picked up and just could not put down until I finished! Literally! Eva Thorne the main character is not only a likable character, but so very easy to relate too! She finds herself in so many unusual and precarious positions that you can't help but wonder if the girl was born for trouble. Not to mention she seems to have a knack for attracting not only unusual men in her li [...]

    4. 3.5 starsEva couldn't count on anyone else to help her with her brother's brutal death. Being a Solhan, a race considered lower than human, had its disadvantage. No one wanted to deal with her. Especially after they learned that she's a Thorne. So she set forth to uncover the truth. In her search, she met all kinds of interesting characters and had fallen prey to questionable creatures. And then she discovered something that involved her twin sister, Ilsa. The Thornes seemed to be entangled in a [...]

    5. Keeping in mind my belief to keep spoilers out of my reviews, you will find I have to say the following about this bookTangle of Thornes is an interesting view into the fantasy world created by Lorel Clayton. At first glance we met our brave, and somewhat bold heroine with lots to prove and little to lose. She's on a mission to search for answers, but somewhere along the way problems arise and she finds herself the target of unwanted attention. I've never entered a world where there was so much [...]

    6. I really liked this book. I liked the characters and story. It flowed well and I couldn't put it down. Highly recommend. Given copy for honest review.

    7. When Eva's brother is murdered in a city of rude elves and matriarchal dwarves where humans have no rights, she is forced to investigate the crime herself. What she discovers brings her up against a powerful slave-trading cartel, dark gods, and—worst of all—her twin sister. Both her family and the elven authorities want her hushed. She has no money and no magic of her own with which to combat them, but she does have an illegally-freed slave, a senile nanny, and an ex-almost-boyfriend on her [...]

    8. I think I found my new favorite series! I love kick ass females in a fantasy setting. Eva Thorne is set in the world of Highcrown with dwarves, elves, avians and the lowly humans. The author thoroughly developed the setting as well as the characters. I like how she did not take baby steps to introduce HighCrown, just kind of throws you in the world and explains it as you go along. I have already downloaded the prequel "A Thorne in Time" as well as downloaded the sample of the second book!

    9. Review: Tangle of Thornes by Lorel Clayton “People speak sometimes about the "bestial" cruelty of man, but that is terribly unjust and offensive to beasts, no animal could ever be so cruel as a man, so artfully, so artistically cruel.” ― Fyodor Dostoyevsky “She had to learn that the day granted hope and happiness, but I stole it. She had to face that the night hid evil and darkness, but my soul was blacker.” ― Pepper Winters, Debt Inheritance Eva Thorne was born to be a monster, in [...]

    10. Her brother Viktor is the only one of her family Eva wishes to claim, so when he's murdered and mutilated, she doggedly pursues every clue available, even when they take her to places she'd really rather not visit. She first hires a dwarf detective, but when he shows up dead, Eva decides to do the investigating herself, reluctantly accepting the help of her brother's best friend Duane (aka "The Boss" aka "Adder"), whom she detests. As a human and hated Solhan, she's at the bottom of a food chain [...]

    11. TANGLE OF THORNES by Lorel Clayton A different fantasy world; one that is populated by magical immortal Avions, temperamental dwarves, rude smelly elves , and – lowest on the totem pole – humans. Most especially hated (and not without justification), humans of the Solhan variety. And the heroine of this story, Eva Thorne, is Solhan. Not only Solhan but a Thorne – a most powerful Solhan family. In rejecting her dark heritage, the only family member with whom Eva will associate is her belove [...]

    12. 3.5/5I received this book from the author in exchange for my honest thoughts, review and opinion. Just want to thank her for that. Yes I requested this book from the author. I love this book gave it a 3.5/5. The characters were well made. Such a fantastic read, highly recommend it to everyone. Yes this book was slow, don't get me wrong I still did enjoyed this book. Tangle of Thornes, is about this protagonist named Eva Thorne. Eva's brother got murdered and so she must find a way to find her br [...]

    13. Eva wants nothing more than to find her brothers killer and avenge his death, and she'll do whatever it takes to figure things out. Shes not really a detective but she'll follow whatever clues she can find even when it leads her to places she never really wanted to go.Her world has Elves, Dwarves and other creatures in it and when it comes to humans they are at the bottom of the rung and shes in many ways considered even lower than even them as a Solhan. So finding people to help her or even tal [...]

    15. Received from the author in exchange for an honest review3.5 starsI enjoyed Lorel Clayton's writing and wit, the story was interesting, the world building fascinating, and the plot kept you guessing until the end. Eva came across as the least interesting person in the story, with too much angst and too little of anything to find interesting. From her narrative voice to her choices to the constant anxiety of what was happening she came across as a whiny 13-year-old that I have no interest in lear [...]

    16. Eva wanted nothing more than to find her brothers killer and get revenge for his death, and she'll do whatever it takes to figure things out. She’s not a detective but she'll follow whatever clues she can find even when it leads her to places she was afraid to go. She finds herself in the company of a slave who she bought from auction then illegaly release her magical bond, a senile nanny who confuses her for her evil twin sister and a love triangle of three men fighting for her love, or are t [...]

    17. This book shows potential with a convoluted plot that comes together at the end, but the narrative lacks focus. I was overwhelmed and put off by the random world building. I found this book to be full of stereotypes. I did not find the characters relatable.I was given a free copy of this book for the purpose of review

    18. Elizabeth Spann Craig, a fantastic author friend of mine who writes cozy mysteries, had this to say about Tangle of Thornes: "You did a great job with this story. I loved all the different influences in it, blended seamlessly. The beginning was especially brilliant--I think I laughed out loud at the twist on noir! Strong, vivid characters and settings."Other Comments I've heard from reliable friends who are hardcopy people and not internet savvy enough to leave reviews are: "The world was so uni [...]

    19. I received a copy of this book in exchange for review.I was really into this book for the first 25% or so because I thought Eva was this strong, badass female character--and who doesn't love those? However, around the halfway mark, you begin to realize that she's actually really weak and is constantly having to be saved or "handled" by the various male characters. She allows herself to be criticized constantly by Nanny. I assume Nanny is supposed to be this matronly-annoying-yet-lovable characte [...]

    20. In this novel I found the narrator, Eva Thorne, very amusing and witty. I also ended up really liking one of the male charactersbut then he turned out to be the bad guy in the plot twist at the end of the book. My heart also went out to the machine that made a short appearance in this novel as well, as it illustrates that in this world, machines have feelings as well. I also found out why some slavers kept quiet about some things. There was a lot of struggle for power in this book, also choices [...]

    21. This story has a very real feel to it even though you are in a world of elves, gorns and other creatures. Eva was an interesting character with a lot of sass and a clear idea of right and wrong. She is determined to figure out who and why her brother was killed. It takes her on quite a journey and she discovers who people really were. Her twin sister might have looked exactly like her but was very different from the well-meaning Eva. It's a good story with some well developed characters and sett [...]
